Poodles can bark, but “a lot” depends on the individual dog, environment, learning history, health, and trigger. A breed label cannot predict the amount of barking in a particular home.
Start with the function of the barking

Keep a short trigger log
For several days, record what happened immediately before the bark, where the dog was, how long it continued, and what ended it. Look for repeatable patterns such as hallway noise, a window view, arrivals, play, or attention.
Reduce rehearsals
Manage predictable triggers while teaching. Options include blocking a window view, increasing distance from a door, adding appropriate activity before a busy period, or moving the dog to a calmer place. Management prevents repeated practice of the unwanted pattern.
Teach quiet with rewards
The AKC describes rewarding a brief pause in barking, gradually extending the quiet interval, and then adding a cue. Reward an alternative behavior such as going to a mat or sitting quietly. Use humane methods

Contact a veterinarian when barking changes suddenly or occurs with signs of pain, illness, cognitive change, or severe distress. Seek a qualified reward-based behavior professional when barking is fear-driven, escalating, or not improving with a consistent plan.
